As a professional medical writer and owner at MedWrite Healthcare Communications, I often come across job offers on the Internet looking for professional medical writers with extensive experience, science background and advanced degrees to write healthcare-related articles for online and print publications at high output, tight deadlines and very low compensation.

Such job postings are rampant as many “publishers” are preying on writers today, many of whom might be out of work or those who want to break into medical writing, and will take on anything.

Some examples of this are:

Payment of $50 for a 100-page report, to be delivered within 24 hours, where bidders racing each other to the bottom to bid to be paid $1 per 10 pages. It is sad and unthinkable that anyone would agree to be paid less than $1/page for original content.

Full time job $400-550 per month Writer with BEST English The ad states: “We need a writer with tech/medical/news style for a full time 200 hrs a month.
